It’s official, it’s spring! While you are awaiting the warmer weather, kickstart your spring cleaning by getting the dust off the desktop computer and perform a thorough social media spring scrub.

Here are our three top tips to keep you organized, optimized and save you time down the road so your social media momentum stays fresh all year long.

Review your social strategy

What is the purpose of you being online? Have the goals changed?

Review the social media goals you set at the start of the year and make sure they are realistic.

If you haven’t done so already, share these goals with your team and make sure everyone is aware of how social media fits into the organizational goals and objectives.

Commit to your social media goals

You spent a lot of time creating your social media strategy, defining your organization’s goals and creating an editorial calendar. Now is the time to stick to those goals and accomplish what you set out to achieve.

Ask yourself if you are able to dedicate as much time as you thought you would be able to to achieve those goals? Make the most of social media scheduling apps, and/or consider hiring someone to assist with social media content and make appropriate adjustments to keep you your social media strategy on track for the months ahead.

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

Audit Accounts

Tax season serves as a friendly reminder to put on your auditor hat and see if your social media accounts are active or has there been a lack of recent activity.

Check your followers on your social media accounts. Who are you trying to reach and why? Are you following the right people, are there thought leaders or business that you should be following?

Most importantly, do you own the land in your digital brandscape?

If you have secured your social media outlets, spring is a great time to make sure images, information and assets are updated. Think of it as a social media makeover, updating profile pictures, reviewing and refreshing company descriptions and ensuring a consistent brand presence occurs across all social media outlets.

While you are at it verify the email account, website and phone number associated with your accounts are up-to-date. Also be sure to change account passwords and review the permission settings to protect your brand and increase your online security and protection.

Social media maintenance is ongoing. Each new season brings something new and spring is the perfect reminder to keep social media top-of-mind and up to date. Schedule reminders in your calendar to stay on top of your social media accounts and find way to monitor the results that your social media improvements made.
