Christmas is not only a season for cherished moments with family and friends but also an opportunity to share our hobbies with those we hold dear. Being a developer, there's no greater satisfaction than leveraging my skills to enhance the hobbies of my loved ones. My girlfriend loves plants and her aspiration to expand her collection sparked an idea to introduce automation into the mix, particularly for tasks like watering. The concept evolved beyond mere automation; my tech enthusiast side sought optimization. Which is how I found the simple solution of using the Raspberry Pi Pico Plant watering system, which allows us to effortlessly care for several plants via a simple server setup. I’m excited to try this project at home and perhaps in the future grow some vegetables for cooking, and I thought I’d share to inspire others to do the same!

Known as a hub for creativity, inspiration, collaboration and organization, Pinterest remains one of our favourite applications to this day due to being an image discovery engine.

Day 9: Stocking Stuffers for Tech Lovers

You use your computer every day. You do your admin tasks in the morning, use countless applications throughout the day to get your work done, and pop into your emails at the end of the day to make sure nothing was missed. For many of us, the majority of our day is spent on our computers.

I love Christmas songs but one thing that I always find interesting is that I keep hearing the same song everywhere I go. Don’t get me wrong, I still appreciate the same song from Mariah Carey, you know which one I mean, but this Christmas I wanted to give a chance to other songs that may not be as popular but hold still hold that warm meaning that we love to share on the holidays.

My favourite one is Little toy trains. This song starts with a mellow country tune which is very relaxing by itself. But what is really inspiring in this song is the loving message from a parent to their child.

This reminded me of the jolly times my parents got me ready to bed when I was a child. And also fills me with joyfulness when I get to do the same to my future children. Before we know it, every end of the year “All is calm, all is well. Soon you'll hear Kris Kringle and the jingle bells”.

What better way to end our Christmas Countdown, than with some movies in celebration of Christmas eve. 

Home Alone

Starting our list of favourites is Christmas comedy Home Alone, released in the nineties. 

Gather around with family and friends to enjoy this classic movie about an eight year old boy who has to fend off burglars after being accidentally left at home during the holidays after his family catches a flight, forgetting about him.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas 

Another classic and crowd pleaser, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, is a good way to remind viewers that the importance and magic of Christmas is not based on money and presents.

It follows the Grinch, a crank creature who attempts to ruin Whoville's Christmas plans by stealing gifts and decorations on Christmas Eve. After connecting with a special someone, the Grinch concludes that Christmas is not all about gifts.

Elf 

Another great comedy, Will Ferrell stars as Buddy, a toddler accidentally transported to the North Pole then raised among Santa's elves who travels to New York searching for his actual father. 

As an adult Buddy travels to New York searching for his real father. After finding his father, a relationship is awkwardly formed.
