While this time of year is known for Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday Deals, there is a non-profit organizations hoping to popularize another day: GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday is the Tuesday after Cyber Monday and it is a day meant to support local nonprofit organizations and charities.

In 2015, $116.5 million dollars were raised in Canada to support nonprofit organizations and charities. This year, GivingTuesday Canada is hoping to increase that number to $125 million. To do so, there are a variety of mobile apps that are doing their share to raise money across the continent.

Helpie

Helpie is a feel-good, look-good, do-good photo app that allows you to use the power of the selfie to donate to charities across the continent. For every helpie you take, $0.05 goes to the charity of your choice. You can take an unlimited number of helpies and can share them to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Charity Miles

For the active do-gooder, Charity Miles turns tracked time walking, biking, or running into funding for nonprofits and charities. For every mile you walk / bike / run, a sponsor of Charity Miles will donate to your charity / nonprofit organization of choice. To date, they have earned over $1.7 million and will pay out an additional $500,000.00 by the end of May 2017.

Feedie

Let’s face it, the majority of us are used to going out for dinner and taking a picture of our meal to share on social media. Feedie banks on this phenomena. Using the Feedie app, all you have to do is take a picture of your meal at a participating restaurant, and that restaurant will donate a meal to someone in need. With thousands of restaurants across the continent, over 12 million meals have been donated through Feedie.
